HOPI EAR CANDLES
The use of ear candles is thousands of years old and was used in ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome. However, it is the native American Hopi Indian Tribe that had the most recent influence on modern Europe, hence the term “Hopi Ear Candle”.
Ear candles are widely used by GP’s, hospitals and therapists to treat a variety of ear, nose and throat conditions. It is a non-invasive treatment which is relaxing, soothing and calming. Its popularity is constantly on the increase whilst people become aware of the benefits derived from this type of treatment.
Hopi ear candles are hollow tubes made from flax, extracts of honey, beeswax and herbs. Sometimes, aromatherapy oils or essences are rubbed on the outside of the candles to enhance the treatment.
The treatment involves the client laying comfortably on their side whilst a Hopi ear candle is inserted in their ear. When lit, the candle has a slight sucking action which is like a “chimney effect”. It draws any impurities to the surface where they can be gently removed. The rising air inside the ear creates a vibration which gently massages the eardrum. This is very soothing and relaxing. The impurities are drawn into the candle relieving any discomfort. From a holistic viewpoint, the cleansing fire carries away negative vibrations from the metabolic energy fields and harmonises the energy status.
