FOOT HEALTH

What is Foot Health?
Our feet are working for us all day, therefore they become the most over-used and under- cared for part of our body. There are a number of factors which can lead to foot problems such as ill-fitting footwear, an active lifestyle, occupational stresses, inherited conditions and medical problems such as diabetes.

Working in an environment where you are on your feet all day is a major cause of foot problems, as feet do not have enough time to
recuperate before the next hard-working day. Untreated foot health problems can cause individuals to suffer from back pain and joint pain in the hips and knees, which might not be associated in the sufferers mind with their feet. Neglecting our feet can lead to long term conditions such as ligament deformity and chronic back pain.

A Foot Health Treatment
Full treatment can include cutting and filing nails, especially thick, tough nails, cutting down in-growing toe-nails, reducing down hard skin, corns, calluses and cracked heels, all the way through to treating verrucae and warts.

All treatments include a foot massage to finish, to ensure all patients leave feeling relaxed and pampered.

Foot Health therapy is a service that is useful for all ages and all professionals. If you spend the majority of your working life on your feet, enjoy walking, running or otherwise lead an active life - or alternatively have developed foot problems due to increased age - then Foot Health Therapy may help you a great deal.

What is a Foot Health Professional?
The term Foot Health Professional or Foot Health Practitioner is a relatively new job title which has been in use since 2003, up until this time, practitioners with a Foot Health qualification could use the term Chiropodist. However, after the 1st of July 2003 the Health Professions Council adopted the titles Chiropodist and Podiatrist as protected titles. The letters MCFHP indicate that the practitioner is a member of the Open College of Foot Health Professionals accepted after undertaking extensive training and passing a searching examination. The letters MAFHP show that the practitioner is a member of The Association of Foot Health Practitioners, which requires all practitioners to act professionally and adhere to a strict code of professional conduct.
