AYURVEDIC

What is Ayurveda?
Ayurveda is the ancient holistic medical system of India that has been practiced for more than 5000 years. According to Ayurvedic philosophy everything in the universe is made up of the 5 elements – ether, air, fire, water and earth. These 5 elements combine with each other to make the 3 doshas Vata, Pitta and Kapha which are present in every individual.
The dominance of any of these doshas determines the individuals personality and constitution. An imbalance in the doshas can lead to illness and stress. Keeping the doshas in balance is believed to be the way to health and happiness.

Ayurvedic Massage
Ayurvedic massage is a unique and luxurious experience. After an initial consultation the therapist will choose individual oils to suit your dosha type. The aromatic oils are natural, organic and contain up to 30 different wild-grown ayurvedic herbs.

Ayurvedic tradition states there are many advantages to having regular massage including nourishment of the body, slowing down the aging process, increasing energy, removeing stress and strengthening of the body and skin.
As well as more traditional relaxation techniques the massages also focus on specific marma points – these marma points are believed to be the pathway to your chakras, inner subtle energy and your soul. The treatments will leave you feeling relaxed, rejuvenated and balanced.

The Doshas
Vata - made of air and ether Vata means 'to move'. Vata people have alert minds and a lot of energy; they have active imaginations and are very creative. An imbalance of Vata can lead to the person becoming anxious and stressed, with a tendency to circulatory and muscular problems

Pitta - made of fire and water Pitta means 'to heat' Pitta people are skilful, bright and quick-witted; they are excellent leaders and organisers. An imbalance of pitta can cause a person to become hot tempered and controlling. Pitta types have a tendency to suffer from digestive problems and skin complaints.

Kapha - made of earth and water Kapha means 'to keep together.' Stable, patient and dependable, kapha people are laid back and compassionate. An imbalance of kapha can lead to laziness, lethargy and jealousy. Kapha types have a tendency to be overweight and are susceptible to respiratory problems.
